Minimum requirements for Enhanced ACT (English, Reading, and Math minimum of 16 in each section) or ACCUPLACER (Algebra score of 231, Reading and Writing score of 474) or C or higher in both College Algebra and English Composition I.DOT physical (indicating a body weight of 280 pounds or less) with a DOT substance test.Valid MS driver’s license & motor vehicle report with good driving record from the MS Department of Public Safety (for CDL).Official high school transcript or high school equivalency.Required documentation will be accepted at the West Harrison County Center March 27 th through May 1 st.Bucket Truck System Protection and Operation.Job Site Safety (Confined Space, Shoring, etc.).Hazardous Material Training and Material Safety Data Sheets.CPR, First Aid, and Blood borne Pathogens.Mississippi Class A Commercial Driver’s License.RUS Specifications (Overhead and Underground).National Electric Code Course & Safety Code Course.The curriculum focuses on basic safety, basic electricity, pole climbing and bucket truck operation, along with other basic skills needed for entry-level work in the utilities field. Participation in and completion of the program does not guarantee participants a job at Mississippi Power or another electric utility. The Lineworker Training Program will provide participants with transferable skills and experience for resumes. Upon completion, students are prepared for an entry-level position as an electrical power-line installer or repairer. Students receive specialized instruction in certification areas required by the electrical power industry. The Electric Lineworker non-credit training program is a one semester, 13-week program. In addition, the student will be responsible for fees associated with the commercial learner’s permit, DOT physical, and drug test. * Students may be responsible for additional costs associated with instructional materials and external exam and licensure fees may apply.
